Sex and Violence
Come on, you have to think these things through, here's another
.......................and they're off.................see if you can get that one.
Busy week in the office and then on Sunday I'm off to one of my favorite places in the world. It was the first big trip I remember as a child:
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, another picture with a goofy hat, long sleeves and shorts, I think I'm starting to see a pattern here. I've shown this before, sue me I like this picture. I remember looking at these pictures from more that a few years ago and in each one an adult is holding on to Dave and me, I guess they were worried that we might jump in? These were the same parents who taught us to swim by throwing us out of the boat, or at least they told us they were teaching us to swim, maybe not?

Sometimes I Just Don't Get It, Do You?
From watching the news this morning, some lady was quite upset that there is too much of this on television and in the movies. Sometimes I don't hear very well
Good week in Texas and yes we did have some fun. The Texas hospitality is legendary.
My first bike, Santa brought it to me, Daddy taught me to ride it in the schoolyard by hanging on to the seat and running beside me. That is a pleasant thought isn't it? Daddy running along side of me; anyway I had to stand on the back step to throw my leg over it. I see the shed and the oil tank in the background, their back stoop became a family room much later.
Now for the story, the bike was red, but an older member of the family, let's call him "Rave" convinced me it was his old bike by chipping enough paint off it to show me it had been blue, and indeed his bike before Santa made it at the North Pole and brought it to me at Christmas. Cynicism started early. Still, TAR has always wondered about my eclectic sense of clothing style, and in this picture you see a flap hat, a nice fashion-plate jacket (probably Dave's at some point also) and best of all.....shorts. Yes a warm coat, geek hat with flaps, and shorts. Go figure, many of you are probably thinking that another piece of the puzzle just came together.
Cooper's Cub Scout gutter boat, very nice work and his printing is awesome
I think this made the blog before, can't remember. Good picture of Vann Neal making stew. I just ate breakfast and now I'm salivating like Pavlov's dog
FYI, this is never a view you want to see. My ring finger went from "looks like a hangnail" to (insert lots of cursing here) THIS HURTS! Of course I was out of town in Texas so I used an Urgent Care facility for the first time. I was treated very nicely, a good experience all things considered; at least I feel that way now............check back later when I get the bill.
Get the first joke? In town all week, leaving Saturday for HVI in Canada.

Combat Warriors
We were fortunate last week to be able to take some wounded Combat Warriors out for a little fishing trip. This is Carl and his son Robert. He is my hero, and I promised myself that I will quit grunting when I get up or down, or find myself up against a rusty and stubborn nut and bolt.
Carl navigated and drove the boat while the captain, uhhhhhh, checked the water depth.
Our crew for the day. Many thanks to the FO on the bow for providing good eats for the day, and constantly preventing Robert from jumping in the water. Nice picture of CooKeeAnna, I'm wondering who walked out on the water and photographed us?
I hinted last week that we might be adding to the Riley armada. We did indeed, like her? I used to sell steam humidifiers at Skuttle so a transition from hummer to boat seems pretty natural, yes? We saw this boat in action a few weeks ago, she really is steam operated; but not unlike Paris Hilton she is pretty but I don't think I'd want to be on her.
No, we didn't add a steamship to the fleet, but we did add a little Whaler, been wanting one for about 40-45 years. So little that she fit into the car garage. By the way, see those letters against the wall? Long story, different post. She should be a nice toy for everyone. I described her this week as my new diving board; and her name shall be................
..........................determined this week. It's down to CappyShack or Fishstick 2. Please vote below, and do so quickly please. We might try to christen her Sunday afternoon.
Jackson is now officially a Fergusonite and likes it. We miss him.
5:20 AM wheels up Monday heading for Texas, 9:40 PM Friday return, going to be a long week, but I'll bet we have a little fun in there somewhere.
Vote early, vote now, and vote often.

Richard Milhous Nixon, Number 37
Last week we successfully moved son # 2 from 28557 to Hampton VA. The move went very well and was capped by the unexpected arrival of the High family from Durham. They enjoyed sitting on the furniture as we picked it up and moved it in, often making a popping noise and yelling MUSH, MUSH!
I don't know what that means.
Nooooooooooooooooo, they brought food:
I'm not sure how many meals they brought but it was a bunch, and it included instructions.
What a great idea, did I mention that TAR and I plan to move next week? Little help................
Good week in Nashville however Comfortech continues to slide away. I'm a big fan of this show but something has to change, maybe the St. Louis venue for next year will help?
So Jackson starts with Ferguson next Monday, I hope they give him a big pad of purchase orders.
Georgia next week and shhhhhhhhhhhh, I think there will be an addition to the stable in the near future. Pictures next week.
I'd hate to think that I screwed up badly enough to lose my job, but it would be even harder to explain to my wife if I made $44 million a year and simply blew it by trying to be above the rules. You see commissioner Goodell the cover up is worse than the crime, just ask Nixon.

Moving Day
Tomorrow we move Jackson out of the house and officially become empty nesters, not really, Dink turned 91 yesterday and appears to be getting stronger every day. She enjoyed being queen for the day, or the week, or forever.
The Mudd family had a wedding at the Angus Barn Saturday night. It was hot but it was a lot of fun, or so I'm told. Fortunately there are no or very few incriminating pictures, trust me, these folks know how to have fun. And it was so good to see so many happy faces. At my advancing age I usually see people from many moons ago under a funeral tent.
Pictures:
I think Walter Eason used to make this cough medicine, I might have taken a spoonful last Saturday night, that would explain a lot of things that happened
When you go to work at Ferguson they give you a can of Virginia peanuts. I can make salted peanuts which are this good, but I'm not going to, it's way too much trouble. Jackson got a can and they were delicious. Do me a favor and don't mention this to Jackson, it will be our little secret.
I took this picture last week in Seattle. It is a woman on a three wheel scooter wearing a Harley-Davidson t-shirt. Motorcycle Mama rules, it's all about the attitude.
Good thing the tutor isn't teaching English, cause it ain't good
Now it gets weird:
Brother, sister have sex after watching 'The Notebook', arrested Effingham County: A brother and a sister were arrested by the police for having sex near a church in Effingham County in the state of Georgia. As per reports, they got physically intimate after watching the movie, 'The Notebook' and had sex three times in a trailer. Christopher Buckner, 20, and her brother Timothy Savoy, 25, are blood relations. They have been charged with incest and aggravated sodomy. They have also been slapped with prowling after they were found walking along a Georgia highway last Tuesday. It was reported that the brother-sister duo broke down and confessed to the authorities. The police were alerted by a resident about them in the wee hours as he was worried about the pair lurking in the area. He thought that they may be there to commit a crime. Initially Savoy told the told the officers that he was walking his sister home. But later he confessed to having sex outside the Countryside Baptist Church. 'The Notebook' is a 2004 romantic film starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.
Great movie, made me.............................well never mind.
Now it gets a little weirder:
Tuxedo-clad Seattle man shoots at couple for interrupting oral sex: police (this happened while I was there, just coincidental)
For some reason the tuxedo makes the story more interesting. Ever wonder what it was like to be Jesse, the greatest dog ever? Here you go......................only in this video a camo-clad Jackson isn't running beside her. But in my mind they're both there
Made me smile and want a dog again. She was not only the best dog ever, she was also happy and made everybody else happy. 7 years now and I miss her every day, gotta wonder if she could have run that far, well in her younger days..................Nashville TN is my destination next week, going to be an empty lonely house here in 28557........................
Two people were shot at after seeing a drunk man in a tuxedo receiving oral sex he allegedly paid for in a Seattle alley, police say.
The 64-year-old man was quickly abandoned by the woman when their foreplay was suddenly interrupted at about 2:15 a.m., leaving him alone with his angry thoughts.
“I’m going to kill you,” a redacted Seattle Police Department report claims he said before pulling a gun out of his pants during the Tuesday incident.
He then fired one shot at the couple, but missed, the report said.
Before the shots were fired, another witness overheard the man have a conversation with his female companion about giving her "money and was angry at not getting anything in return” before the two secluded themselves in an alcove, according to the police report.
It’s not known why the man identified later by the Smoking Gun as Paul Hunter was so so nicely dressed so late at night.
Police nabbed the alleged gunman on assault charges shortly after getting a 911 call for shots fired.
The report shows police thought he was “highly intoxicated” while being taken into custody. He was then booked into King County Jail on a $100,000 bond, jail records show.

It's An Early Post
.....or very late, seems like old times trying to commuicate between several time zones, but here we go for this week from Seattle, or is it Portland? One of the two
While in the car this week I listened to Jim Rome interviewing Duke's head football coach Cutcliffe. He said that Duke had a very good year last year and they expect to win 8+ games a year from now on. 6 games were won and lost in the fourth quarter and that is a big difference between 6 wins and 11. They didn't have a good practice day that day and that is a day lost due to indifference and that disturbed him quite a bit. Rome said that's an old cliche, and Cutcliffe replied that old cliches are used over and over because they are true. Rome said he would use that line again, which is ironic. But what he said next really was important about the quality of players Duke recruited recently, he uses three rules for potential high school recruits:
They look at their social media posts; suspicious or immoral and they do not pursue
When they bring a recruit in for an on-campus visit they listen closely to their players, if they have concerned about character and morals they do not pursue
When talking with a HS recruit they talk with the recruit, his parents, high school teachers and coaches and no one else. If the recruit wants to involve other relatives, advisers or "representatives" they do not pursue.
See a common thread? I do, and just because others look the other way doesn't make it right.
Next subject: see anything odd here? Turn the volume up
What's next? From Takei and with a North Carolina license plate:
Let your imagination run wild, I'm thinking "a new start" how about you?
I forgot to mention that we said goodbye to our next door neighbors a couple of weeks ago; the Bachs moved into assisted living while in their 90's. They were good neighbors and we will miss them, Mrs. Bach's first name is Helen believe it or not, think about it.......Helen Bach...........
Want to see something that will make you smile? Especially if you're my age. We watched this a few weeks ago and it was silly fun, but still fun. SWMBO sang along with most of the songs but then said she didn't really like the movie. Here's the opening scene, see if you know all the words:
I've got a feeling (Beatles pun there) that George didn't mean to trip. Another possible pun
It's been a good week in the great northwest but I'm about ready to get home and go to a wedding in Raleigh on Labor Day weekend.................come on, But it's at the Angus Barn and I think my old welded shut joints can find some lubrication there.
Speaking of joints, I was in Washington state this week and, oh never mind.
But I did get a lot of exercise this week, the old fashioned kind, not the new-fangled style that is increasingly popular. I think this will be my next attempt at eternal youth:
That, give me a magic pill and I'm at 175 pounds and going all day long
Or not
In town this week (insert audible gasp) and then moving Jackson to Hampton next weekend. The following week we expect to run nekkid throughout the house for a while, please give us our privacy
Next week: a story of a bike I bought in Seattle, look familiar?
I feel sorry for everyone involved in this tragedy, but this kinda sums up social media:
But be careful, Karma you are such a sassy bitch
OK, while in Ohio this past week the world stopped and began turning backwards because the Ohio State QB got hurt in practice and will not play this year. That's too bad, but after four days of listening to that, the whether or not Johnny Football will start for the Browns discussion, and the never-ending dialogue about him giving the opposing bench the finger................well I'd had enough. Good thing John Tesh has a syndicated radio show; yes, that's wrong in so many ways: he has the show, I knew he had the show, I listened to the show, I found myself singing along..................
But the funniest line of the talk radio scene, other than Dink asking me if this Ferguson thing is going to bother Jackson's new job; was to hear someone call into a Cleveland talk show and in his best Judge Smails voice say "well Johnny, since you're not going to be too busy on Sunday afternoons why don't you come over to my house and mow my lawn? Hmmmmmm, Mr. First Round Draft Pick?" That was funny, now back to John Tesh.
And on this date, August 22nd I find myself the only person on Earth who hasn't dumped a bucket of ice on himself. It is a great cause and a wonderful marketing idea, and I've been challenged a couple of times, and I will write the check, but maybe it's been done enough? Or maybe, just maybe I have already done it, for you see Robin, I'm Batman!

Sorry it wouldn't upload properly, it's titled Big Dump; I don't recommend you search using that, just copy and paste
And from one of the nicest guys in the world:
That played out pretty well
Who remembers Chief Dan George? I do I do! From an old movie we watched lst week, this is the way the world spins every now and then; sometimes the magic works, sometime it doesn't
Oregon and Washington next week, then a wedding and a long weekend
