April 11, 2009
Yes I have lost my mind and bought a yellow boat. According to one wit from Durham who has a television in every room of his house, we now have more boats than he has televisions. That will change after we give the wooden skiff away to the Sea Scouts and sell the Scanoe. I got quite a deal and decided to go for it. After Terri named her Fishstick 2 I put her in the creek to see if she floated, and she did. Kill her she's a witch, a witch I tell you, a witch!!! No wait, I put the BOAT in the water and she floated! The engine runs fine, reverse is a little sticky but I'm working on it. The trailer needs some work, there is a leak around the plug, I should beef up the transom, I wish I could find my trolling motor, and for goodness sakes it needs to be painted! Bobby, don't bring your ultralight stuff for our birthday weekend; sorry, don't think she'll be ready for that by then. But it is always a joy to mess around with boats...........and I do love things that make combustion engine noise; but you probably already knew that.
I like the openness of the cockpit, it makes walking in the boat a lot easier for an old guy like me who has the tendency to trip over shadows on the sidewalk; should be a good creek and river boat.

And now on to more important things, Pop physically seems better each day but had a few cloudy days this week. We're not sure what his next step will be.
And now on to even more important things; the tomb is empty, Happy Easter.
Off to look at colleges next week

I think I saw some camouflage paint in Pop's shop. It should still be good from the last aluminum boat you had. Also, I really liked what you did to the engine about the 1:18 mark. As if your neighbors thought they were moving into a quiet neighborhood. How about a new bass pedestal seat to mount on the front deck for your birthday?

you know you might be from rocky mount...when you watch a boat run on the internet for 1:40.

looks good uj, with that mighty handsome 25 horse Merc hanging off the back end. its got a long way to go to ever rival the crosby sled...but hope you guys have a blast out on it! i heard dad was gonna come down this weekend and try and sneak it out for sea trials before you had a chance. better keep a lock on it!

Hey NK, glad you're on board. She went out last Saturday for sea trials and passed with flying colors. I put her in the creek and immediately noticed a leak near the plug, you could see the stream effect.....but that was the only one. Before I left the dock I returned to the house for a life jacket and paddle; somehow or another I thought either or both might be necessary.
She'll go faster than I want to go in the rust bucket of nuts and rivets, should be fun.
Fishin donated a trolling motor and a battery yesterday, what can we put you down for? Do you have any "extra" radar units over there?
You be good and keep your nose clean.

Dueling Banjos No, the odd looking young man did not play the banjo in the movie, here is how the movie-magic people did it: Fake sleeves !!...
