June 18, 2009
Been really busy over the past couple of weeks and managed to have some fun also. we always try to have some fun anyway, especially in the summertime
Last Sunday we had our first Church on the Beach, good crowd and a beautiful morning. Afterwards we went back towards Harkers Island, Terri sunbathed and I fished for flounder. Caught one little one, the Owner wanted me to filet the undersized fish and hide it.....decided against that move. Later we were caught in a deluge with a lot of close lightning, not very comfortable. Saw someone in the water at the NCWRC landing on Taylor Creek trying to retrieve their boat, trailer, and.......................Lexus. All in all our day wasn't too bad.
There is one word I'm happy to use to describe these two houses in Rocky Mount:
SOLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dave and I finished cleaning out the shop last Saturday, and went to the closing Monday afternoon. We enjoyed growing up in that neighborhood but are very happy and relieved to have them sold. We hope the new owners will enjoy them.
Wilkinson School, now a church; those of you familiar with this view might notice something a little different:
A huge oak was felled, must have been diseased or maybe the roots were upsetting the building. Impressive stump, about 9 feet across
One last look at the High Manor
Dave found some old boots from his soldering days, decided to keep them long enough to get his SS number out of them
A homemade fan over the workbench, complete with a guard to prevent an injury
A clean workshop.....do you believe it?
Someone wrote their middle name on the wall a couple of years ago......showed you this one rather than the one on the left side where I screwed up the "E"
And after it all was done, SheWhoMustBeObeyed and I took off for Morehead. Started to get a little chilly and rainy
Father's Day this weekend, Pop told me yesterday he wants a carton of Camels..........Matthews Beach Week begins this Saturday. This year Terri is leaving town; she'll be in Boone for a reading conference meeting. Should be a fun week

Still no pictures to post; had a good week working in VA with my good friend Burch Vickery, got a lot accomplished. Hopefully I'll see a new laptop next week and I'll get some pics up ASAP. Going to Rocky Mount to clean out the shop tomorrow, have church on the beach Sunday morning, maybe play on the boat a little after that. Might be in MD next week for a couple of days.
Guess who was in town today opening a tire store beside Jones Brothers?
Not going to give any hints, you either know him or you don't. I never cared much for him, but certainly one of the best ever, and definitely a diverse champion.
Pop and Dink had a good week, lots of company to keep them busy. It's summertime summertime, sum sum summertime........................................................
Come on down

Anniversary of D-Day, several good articles in the local paper about veterans. Pop had a good week; took him to the beach yesterday, I think he enjoyed getting out.
We went to the Keli Wagner tournament captain's party last night; the tournament is today so I guess since we are not fishing our team will come off the top of the leadeboard where it has been for a couple of months. Good time, good food and drink, great cause
Still a couple of weeks away from a new laptop; makes life a lot simpler not having it; however there are several projects I'm WAY behind on because it crashed. I'll get them done in a few weeks
Off to the Lloyd family reunion tomorrow; we'll see if I can squeeze into the roadster after that competitive eating event.
Might be in VA some next week, behave yourselves
