A Little Cleanup

A few items from the past week or so as my summer slowdown continues; my goal for the summer is to spend less than five minutes on this blog. Yes I know, you can tell I didn't put much effort into this.
A short video of little Miss Keelyn getting upset because it is time to go to Sanford. She honestly had been very good all week, this was a semi-blowup although nothing like others we have seen..........
The pine cone is in the sun room for decoration, you can hear SWMBO in the background repeating this is the "first time" and it was.....................
And our lonesome dove finally left the nest early this week. Appropriate that it would be the same day Andy died, because that cage looks mighty empty now, but don't the trees look nice and full? If you don't know what that means Google "Opie the Birdman" and watch it. That and the episode about Annabelle and Tom Silby are my favorites; oddly enough the latter episode is not mentioned as one of Andy or the Mayberry fan club's top ten. I guess it has to do with ratios, poor Horatio................ Losing Andy really feels like the loss of a family member; well if that don't beat all.
And this from the FO as a suggestion; no, it would never work, maybe I could just try it without the trailer?
The BMW is for sale, 5.0% commission to anyone who gives me a good lead at a fair price. I have it on Craig's List, the BMW MOA website and the BMW Motorcycle Mailing list site, maybe I have it priced too high? OK, $3500.
So thirty two years ago on Tuesday night my daddy and I watched The John Wayne version of The Alamo on TV, I poured a JW Red and hit the sack about 11:00 PM and about 5 minutes later TAR's water broke. Later the next morning, right about in the middle of the fourth set of Bjorn Borg's fifth Wimbledon championship Jay was born. Happy birthday little fellow, well I guess you're not that little anymore; we're mighty proud of you and all you have done. I know you will continue to be a good father, husband and productive citizen. Keep it up.

Summer Shortcuts Continue

A great beach week, keeping Keelyn was a pleasure beyond belief! She was so agreeable, and this was the first time we kept her alone; having children should be so easy.
After a short visit with Dink, I taped the following (copy link address in new tab):
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/John%20Riley/Desktop/Memo.m4a     not sure this will work, if it doesn't, send a text to 252.725.0924 and I will send it to you
See if you can understand her, we did!
And a short video:

Welcome Dingbatters
On summer slowdown:
  • Problems with bike carburetor linkage, getting it fixed and then up for sale
  • Elizabethown for Presbytery meeting, saw a lot of familiar faces
  • Neighborhood family had a little girl, Sarah Campbell Morrow
  • Getting to the short rows for our expected Annabel Faye Riley
  • Went to Oriental last week to look at a bike, saw this:

Thank God TAR didn't let us move there. Beach Week starts...............tomorrow, are you prepared?

Happy Father's Day

And being the proud grandparents we are, here is the young scholar upon graduation. Good to see that he seems to follow in the male Riley tradition of not knowing how to smile for a picture......

And yes, VIDEO!No, I don't know how to rotate the image, sorry
Messing around making calls in SC and I saw this in a BMW M3 on my way home Thursday afternoon. I'm not sure if the camera does the matching hairdo justice, it was after all a Mohawk.

First Father's Day without a father for both TAR and me, little different but we can handle it.

Since Last We Talked.......................

SWMBO and I went to Sanford and saw #1 grandson graduate; pictures and/or video to follow (as soon as I receive some, we forgot the camera and the phones were in the car............memories). It was a fun morning followed by dropping TAR off at the mall and making calls.
FO and I went fishing all day Saturday; it was a little rough but we went outside anyway, visions of black sea bass danced in our heads, but alas mighty slim pickens; I'll try again tomorrow. Someone asked how I knew how long it had been since the CC was in the water; I hear that people with OCD keep logs on subjects such as this. I still think it should be called CDO, then the letters would be in alphabetical order. But then again I still worry about whether or not I should put a hyphen in anal-retentive. What are your thoughts Hobson?
Let's go racing; who do you think would win? I know for certain it will not be Kurt Busch this weekend. Wonder if James Finch has tried to call me? Wellllllllllllllllllllllll, we're waiting..................

The grapes are coming in, maybe we'll get to try a couple this year if the animals will be so kind. Speaking of animals, actually reptiles I guess; our neighborhood has become copperhead central. Anyone know of good ways to keep them from around the house? Little bastards................

Our little ones have flow away, good thing the copperheads didn't know they were in the wreath on the front door. They were fun for a while but the guano was really building up

Speaking of building up guano, I worked in South Carolina all week, saw an interesting sign in Lexington at a drive through beer stand:
"Our beer is as cold as your ex-wife's heart" Very descriptive.
Overheard on the radio last week:  "did you buy gas?"  "that's a confirmative"

Gotta wonder....................
Next to my hotel this week there was a Presbyterian church named Saxe Gotha. Any ideas? Guess I could look it up, just wondering how intelligent my readers are..................JK, I know, oh I know. See, I figure if you are really that smart then you're probably not wasting your valuable time reading this guano. Again the blog goes full circle, it is the game of life.
And this is here because it is funny.

RIP my IL/WI representative Steve Klym and my favorite television outdoors man Franc White.
I was supposed to head to Ohio next week but that trip is falling through, think I'll finish up SC in...............wait a second, I know you're reading this so I'm not telling.
Congratulations to Kevin and Heather; another Riley girl is on the way. Dinkey Duke works in so many ways; good luck with the pregnancy.

Guess It Is Month End

And in the case of Skuttle, year end. Some cleanup pictures from last week and this week:
The Mothman Bridge in Point Pleasant WV....or is it OH, I forget
An excellent example of one of the Chateau du Highs, wonder how 20 people fit in there? Always good times
And Thursday night in Sanford. Getting in after 10:00 PM and not in the mood for games. Where the hell is room 202 and I have to pee!
And more cleanup from last week: ALPACA LIPS, get it? Seems as though one of those fellers was from Arkansas..........
Nice Memorial Day, watched three races, hard to believe that NASCAR was the poorest race. Congratulations to Mr. Ashley Judd on his third 500 win. IZOD and the George family did a good job, competitive race throughout and settled on the last lap.
Monday afternoon TAR and I went out on the center console, or as we like to put it in our own little world "the big boat." Incomprehensible as it may sound, the first time on that boat in 7 months. 7 months! Wow, we have to do better than that.
Working in Raleigh tomorrow, might be able to fish Saturday, SC all next week. Sign of the ALPACA LIPS, come on.........................

Every Picture Tells A Story.................

Shanghai Lil never used the pill, she said that it just ain't nachuraaaaalllllllllll; don't ask why, I've had that song in my head this week, glad to see it replace You Know My Name, Look Up The Number
Happy Memorial Day and semi-official opening to summer, hello daingbatters and good-bye socks. It sure would be nice to be able to put the boat in the sound, maybe one day. I learned today that it seems as though we have another event out in the ocean which will probably keep me landlocked for yet another weekend. That's OK though, Sunday morning I'll watch the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indy 500 at midday, and then Charlotte that evening. Thank you to my wife for giving me a day like this..............and I need another beer.
At Indy the memory of Dan Wheldon will be honored on laps 26 and 98 by the fans wearing these goofy looking sunglasses. Dan used to wear white sunglasses but these things are just a little over the tacky edge; and I know a few things about the tacky edge.
Silly things like these sunglasses make me wonder if this could be a sign of the............
Get it? Have a good long weekend
